“Made” is his name. He works at Bali Eco Stay and provided the authentic workshop on “How to make cold pressed virgin coconut oil” to guests. It was quite a humbling experience to be welcomed into his home and gain an appreciation for this extraordinary gift mother nature has to share with us.
Cold pressed virgin coconut oil is not only great for cooking, it can be put on the skin/hair and taken internally for it’s medicinal properties. It’s been known to be used for its anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial health-protecting properties.
To make one litre of cold pressed virgin coconut oil 10 coconuts are needed. It takes about 1 hour to grate 5 coconuts, then boiled water is added, mixed then squeezed. The extract then needs to boil for at least an hour and a half. Then cold water is added, oil is extracted and put into the fridge to solidify. Nothing goes to waste cause the left over pulver is used to feed the pigs.
